Alumni Relations
As part of our initiative to promote student academic development, we have introduced the beginnings of an alumni database and mentorship program. Intended to create continued ties to the alumni of our institution, students will be able to contact alumni in various positions and locations across the globe. The value of an alumni database available to students is extraordinary. It will provide members of Keramos access to a larger community from which they can draw on professional advice, insiders in academia, potential job leads, and many other opportunities. An online form allows alumni to create an account with brief educational history / work experience and contact information if they choose to release it freely for student use. The database will be password protected, allowing only students of our department access.
We hope to facilitate students’ search for resources, keeping them well within reach. According to student testimonies, even above-average scholars tend to be overlooked in the flood of resumes submitted to companies. Additionally, while the professors in our department provide many insights into life after college, having this extra resource will prove an effective way to enable students to get the facts they need to make informed decisions. For this purpose, our alumni database will add great value to our department and promote awareness of Keramos activities on campus. The alumni section of the website will be advertised in the Material Science and Engineering Alumni News, a publication distributed by our department.
